Digital Positioning Layer (DPL)

Version: 0.1

Status: Draft

Date: July 1, 2026

Overview

The Digital Positioning Layer (DPL) is the conceptual layer defined and occupied by EchoRTX.

Within EchoRTX, the DPL provides the conceptual layer through which Digital Position may be observed, understood, and communicated across digital environments.

The Digital Positioning Layer does not create, influence, or modify Digital Position. Instead, it provides the conceptual foundation for observing and documenting Digital Position within the EchoRTX system.

Purpose

The purpose of the Digital Positioning Layer is to provide the conceptual layer for EchoRTX.

The DPL establishes the canonical conceptual reference for observing and communicating Digital Position across digital environments.

Digital Position

Within the DPL, Digital Position is understood through the observation of:

  • Recognition
  • Association
  • Contextual Placement

Together, these observation signals contribute to the understanding of an entity’s Digital Position within the DPL.

Relationship to EchoRTX

EchoRTX defines and occupies the Digital Positioning Layer.

EchoRTX utilizes the DPL as the conceptual layer for observing and communicating Digital Position.

Relationship to EchoLens

EchoLens is the observational perspective associated with EchoRTX.

EchoLens provides the perspective through which Digital Position is observed within the DPL.

Relationship to Echo Reports

Echo Reports communicate observations regarding an entity’s Digital Position.

Position documented within an Echo Report refers to an entity’s Digital Position within the Digital Positioning Layer.

Boundaries

The Digital Positioning Layer is conceptual in nature.

The DPL does not:

  • Optimize
  • Rank
  • Recommend
  • Govern
  • Certify
  • Measure performance

The Digital Positioning Layer is defined and occupied exclusively by EchoRTX.

Other systems may reference the Digital Positioning Layer but do not occupy it unless expressly authorized by the EchoRTX Specification.
